A Yankee born and raised, Kaity slowly migrated south, eventually finding her way to Richmond in 2001. The timing couldn't have been better - just six months after her arrival she was diagnosed with Stage IIB Hodgkins Lymphoma and was blessed to find the VCU Massey Cancer Center in her backyard. She has continued to be under the care of the physicians at Massey after learning that she also carries the BRCA1 gene mutation - a form of the breast and ovarian cancer gene.
Kaity first accepted the Massey Challenge in 2007 as a way to say thank you to the physicians, researchers, and staff who contributed to her care. This year, she is proud to serve as the Chair of the 2013 HDL, Inc. Massey Challenge Committee.
Celebrating 10 years in remission in 2012, Kaity has pledged to raise $25,151 as part of the 2013 HDL, Inc. Massey Challenge - doubling the amount she has raised through the Challenge since 2007.
Along with Massey, Kaity loves anything vintage, the color pink, very high heels, yoga, running, football, and dancing. She also loves Floyd.
